The Challenges of Healthcare Access in Uganda
Tue, May 13, 2025, 12-1 PM
Ernest Masaaba, Country Director of AOET Uganda, will share firsthand insights into the challenges of healthcare access in Uganda, where Operation One supports a community health clinic in Bugembe. With recent policy changes and funding cuts forcing many similar clinics to close, thousands face limited access to life-saving treatments like HIV/AIDS medication. Ernest will explore the role of corporate partnerships and innovative solutions in strengthening healthcare systems in underserved areas. Additionally, he will discuss Operation One’s work in education and child welfare, which includes operating primary and secondary schools and a child welfare office. These programs rely on child sponsorships to provide education, meals, and healthcare, breaking cycles of poverty. Ernest’s talk will highlight how global engagement can create lasting opportunities for children and families in Uganda.
